MODEL BINDER DOESN'T BIND DATA, BUT RATHER BINDS DATA STRUCTURES
A technical area of great importance in today's IT market are the relational databases and more particularly the data structures necessary for the processing of various information sources, transformation, storage, visualization, modification and extraction of data to third-party systems.
In the context of data structures and more precisely relational databases, the state of the art of the data exchange is the MDA (model-driven approach) which allowed in recent years to automate data transformations (bindings or mappings). Model Binder allows to move to the next step, the transformation of structures or data models.
MODEL BINDER, AS AN ENGINE OF TYPE INPUT-PROCESS-OUTPUT, ALLOWS
to read and understand UML, entity-association relationship models (such as Rational Rose or Entreprise Architect models)
to generate code specific to the model (or data structure)
This is useful in computerized system-to-system exchanges, that is to say from machine-2-machine data exchange, which is an crucial aspect of modern IT systems in a (more and more) connected world.
Specific model-related IT operations can be :
creating documentation in various formats (HTML, Word, XAR, but also any output related to the model structure, such as SQL queries or source code).
generating a wiki for the data model
creating new output formats to communicate with other systems (XML , etc.),
generating database scripts

A model or data structure is uploaded in the corresponding input module.
The input module binds the input data structure to a format ready to be stored in the meta-model.
The meta-model stocks information about the data structure (i.e. info about entities, attributes, associations of the concerned model). The meta-model is identically designed for each and every input model.
The output module then receives the meta-model and maps it to the wished output data structure.
Outputs are new data structures that can help fulfilling many needs (see advantages).

Pulsar has been working with large databases for over 15 years. By practicing all the operations described, we have systematically encountered the problem of transformation of data structures (or data models). After trying all the existing methods using various software of the market (also called mappers), and finding that it is a very expensive operation in time and resources, we understood the concepts and the principles common to these operations of transformation of structures or data models. With this new product Model Binder, we aim to achieve a tool capable of automating data structure transformation operations. Indeed, generating from the data structure another structure relating thereto, will drastically reduce the development time and therefore significantly increase the profitability of computer developments related to data structures.
